The Riding Warehouse began in 1996, when company owner Tracy Airth founded Long Riders Gear, specializing in gear and apparel for trail and distance riders. In 1998, she created her own website, and in 2007 she shifted her business model to e-commerce.
From 2008 to 2012, Long Riders boomed. However, Tracy stayed true to her roots by prioritizing face-to-face interaction, setting up booths at every endurance ride she competed in — riding during the day and selling products in the evenings after. It was this grassroots development of relationships that instilled in Tracy the importance of putting the customer first, ultimately building the foundation of the Riding Warehouse brand we know and love today.
In 2012, just as she was planning to open up a Long Riders Gear retail store in Atascadero, Tracy was approached with an offer to become the newest branch of Sports Warehouse: Riding Warehouse. In November of 2012, Long Riders Gear officially became Riding Warehouse. Building off of her desire to serve more members of the equestrian community, Tracy added the English and Western disciplines to the website in March of 2013.
